An Appeal for Protecting Arafat and the Palestinian People <\/strong><\/p>\n

We are terrified and deeply concerned about the intentions of the Israeli Government to \u201dremove\u201d the President of the Palestinians Yasser Arafat, possibly even by killing him.<\/p>\n

These kind of plans only tell that the leaders of Israel refuse to see the basic reasons to the conflict, self-evident to the rest of the world, the Occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people. Resistance against the Occupation cannot be ended by killing and accusing the victims. The Israeli leaders, instead of building true peace in the only possible way, by abandoning their mindless aims to dispossess more of the Palestinian land, and recognizing the rights of the Palestinians, continue their attrition war against the Palestinians by maintaining the conflict.<\/p>\n

The expulsion or killing of the democratically elected President of the Palestinians can in no way serve the peace but only causes escalation of the conflict and gives the Israeli Army reason for massive invasion to the Palestinian territories and crushing the unity, resistance and society of the Palestinians.<\/p>\n

The world must not allow this to happen but it must stop Israel. International peace-keeping forces must be sent to the area to protect the Palestinians, to prevent violence and to maintain fulfilling of the international law and human rights.
